Irene Kontogiannis, DMD

Dr. Irene Kontogiannis grew up in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, where she was a three season athlete in high school. She then graduated magna cum laude from The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) with a Bachelor of Science, which is when she decided to pursue a career in dentistry. Four years later, she graduated at the top of her class from Rutgers School of Dental Medicine
(RSDM), where she received great honors including the prestigious Stanley S. Bergen Jr., MD. Medal of Excellence, induction into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) National Dental Honors Society, and the chosen recipient of the EJI Excellence in Medicine Scholarship.

During her time at RSDM, she volunteered her summer break to treat members of the Native
American Lakota population on a mission trip in South Dakota. This experience really cemented
the importance of preventive care in dentistry, which she strives to implement in her everyday
practice. In recent years, she has happily volunteered her time to teach kindergarteners about
the significance of oral health for Children’s Dental Health Month in her hometown.

Following RSDM, she completed a general practice residency program at Morristown Medical
Center, where she had extensive training with specialists and hands-on training in complex
restorative treatment, oral and periodontal surgery, pediatrics, and endodontics among
medically complex patients.

Outside of the office, Dr. Kontogiannis loves being outside, working out, spending time with
family and friends, traveling to new places, and rendering hand-drawn portraits for loved ones.
